Titan Theatre's "Shakespeare in Queens" reading series continues this Monday, April 3rd, with All's Well That Ends Well. This reading is extra-special to Jim because not only will he be playing the role of Lavatch (the Clown)/Interpreter but he was also asked by Titan to do the cut for this reading and this is the first time Jim has cut a Shakespeare show. So, come see this Shakespearean fairy-tale at the Queens Library at Rego Park (91-41 63rd Drive; Flushing, Queens) at 5:30 pm.

Having read six history plays in the course of two months, Titan Theatre Company continues its Shakespeare in Queens reading series with The Taming of the Shrew where Jim will be reading the role of Hortensio. Titan Theatre Company completes its history cycle with the end of the Wars of the Roses Cycle, Richard III this Monday, February 27th, at the Flushing Community Library (41-17 Main Street, Flushing) at 5:30 pm. Jim will be reading the roles of Brakenbury/Ratcliff.

Jim will be taking on the role of George of York (who #spoileralert becomes the Duke of Clarence). Jim will be joining the cast in the role of Burgundy/Ensemble for Henry VI Part 1 on Monday, February 6th at 5:30. The Wars of the Roses cycle will be held at the Flushing Community Library (41-17 Main Street Flushing).

Jim is thrilled to announce that he will be taking part in Titan Theatre Company's reading of "The Comedy of Errors," in the role of Second Merchant. The reading will take place at at the Queens Library at Windsor Park on 79-50 Bell Blvd at 5:30 on Monday, February 1st. Please note, if you plan on taking public transportation out to the library, you will have to catch a bus (Q46) so please plan accordingly.

Jim has successfully moved to NYC to pursue his dreams of being a professional actor. Unfortunately, A Bard's Characters did not survive the move. The copy on Jim's computer was damaged and the external flash-drive containing the spare copy was ruined. So he will begin reviving the show from the depths of his mind. And who knows? It might be better than what the original would have been. Stay tuned for more information on Jim Barrow's ABCs (one working title).

Jim will be working with the Friends of the Groom Theatre Troupe at the St. John United Methodist Church Choir Camp from July 14th - July 20th on their production of Once Upon a Parable, to be performed at 11:00 in the St. John Sanctuary on July 20th. Join us for a few stories with a point.

Jim is currently putting together his own one-man Shakespeare show, entitled A Bard's Characters: A Lifetime of Roles at Rapid Pace. The show will cover roles that Jim has played, roles he is currently able to play, roles he hopes to play in the future, and some roles he has very little chance at playing in addition to revealing much about why we love Shakespeare and why some people don't. Jim will be ending his UGA Theatre Department career with the show Equivocation, appearing in the roles of Robert Cecil/Nate. The show centers around the writing of the "Scottish Play" and how that play relates to the Gunpowder Plot (or if there even was such a threat) in addition to pointing out themes of the Bard's shows that might have passed over your head. The show will run April 22nd in room 480 of the UGA Tate Student Center and 23rd (also the Bard's birthday) in the Arena Theatre at the UGA Fine Arts Building (corner of Baldwin and Lumpkin) at 8:00 pm on both nights.. Admission is "Pay what you can." Join us for our "double, double, toil, and trouble!"

Jim is thrilled to announce that he will be presenting his original research in the topic of "Game Theory and Literature" (specifically where game theory relates to theatre) at the UGA CURO Symposium on April 1st from 9:30-10:45 in room A at the Classic Center. If you're curious as to how Shylock (from The Merchant of Venice) and the Cuban Missile Crisis are similar, this is the presentation for you.

Jim is thrilled to announce that he will be playing the role of Professor Archimedes Q. Porter in the UGA BCM's upcoming dinner theatre production of Disney's Tarzan. This is a special performance for Jim because he will be bookmarking his UGA BCM theatre 'career' with playing quirky British males in Disney musicals (Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast - his freshman year). The show will run for one weekend, February 27 - March 3. The shows on February 27th and March 3rd are student shows; tickets cost $5 and can be bought at the door on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be two evening shows (where a full dinner will be served) on February 28th and March 1st. Tickets cost $25 and the dinner will start being served at 6:00 pm. Additionally, there will be two matinee performances on March 1st and March 2nd (where only dessert will be served). Tickets cost $15 and dessert will be served at 1:00 pm on March 1st and 2:00 pm on March 2nd. Hope you can swing through the jungle with us!

Jim will be playing the role of Sir William Lucas in UGA's upcoming production of Pride and Prejudice. This vibrant adaptation, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the publication of Jane Austen's classic novel, captures the fire and wit of the ultimate romantic comedy. The show, which serves as the official contribution of the University Theatre Department during UGA's Spotlight on the Arts, will play November 7-8 & 13-16 at 8:00 pm and November 10 & 17 at 2:30 pm. Jim will be taking a break from performing while he attends the University of Georgia's Oxford Transatlantic Shakespeare Study Abroad program. For four weeks, he will study Shakespeare at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C. under Dr. Fran Teague and, for three weeks, he will study Shakespeare under Dr. Elizabeth Dutton at the University of Oxford.

Jim will be performing the role of Frank Slade in UGA's upcoming staged reading of the melodrama Ten Nights in a Barroom on April 20th at 2:30 pm in the Cellar Theatre. As a celebration of UGA's Department of Theatre and Film Studies 80th season, for one performance only, the Thalian Blackfriars will be producing a staged reading of the first show UGA Theatre produced: Ten Nights in a Barroom. This is a prohibition piece that explores the evil of drinking in the quiet town of Cedarville.

Jim will be making his professional debut as Nathan Radley in the upcoming production of To Kill A Mockingbird which is being produced by Rose of Athens. The timeless show, based on Harper Lee's classic novel, examines courage and compassion, “Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason not to try.” Scout, a young girl in a quiet southern town, is about the experience the dramatic events that will affect the rest of her life. She and her brother, Jem, are being raised by their widowed father and heroic lawyer, Atticus Finch, and by a strong-minded housekeeper, Calpurnia. Wide-eyed Scout is fascinated with the people in her small town, but, from the start, there's a rumble of thunder just under the calm surface of life in Maycomb, Alabama. The show will play at the Seney-Stoval Chapel, behind the Varisty off Milledge Avenue. School shows will be on Feb. 28, March 1, 7, and 8 at 10 am. Public shows will be 1-2 and 8-9 at 7 pm. The longest running musical in Broadway history, Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones' show tells the classic story of two teenagers in love, who must contend with plotting parents and a melodramatic villain while focusing on themes of life, love, and vegetables. The memorable score contains songs such as "Try To Remember," "Soon It's Gonna Rain," and "Plant A Radish." The show runs for 7 performances, opening on February 5th and closing February 10th, and plays in the Seney-Stoval Chapel, behind The Varsity off Milledge Avenue.
